2023 McChord Thrift Shop Scholarship Recipients


Aidan Koshinski

Joan Wasserstrom Scholarship - $4500

Aidan will study Biology (Pre-Med) at Pacific Lutheran University. From there, he hopes to go to medical school and eventually become a practicing neurologist. Outside of school, he enjoys running and swimming sports & will swim competitively at PLU. Besides sports, he enjoy coin collecting.

Hannah Koivisto

Outstanding Student Merit Award - $3500

Hannah will attend Central Washington University studying Public Health, eventually pursuing a Masters in Nursing to become an L&D nurse. While at CWU, Hannah will run track and cross-country. Outside of school, she enjoys reading, hiking, and all things outdoors!

Sophie Cummings

Outstanding Student Merit Award - $3000

Sophie plans to pursue a degree in marine biology at Louisiana State University. She aspires to take part in oceanic conservation in order to preserve the beauty of the planet for future generations. She enjoys reading, baking, and playing tennis, and babysits in her free time.


Kaylee McJunkins

Outstanding Student Merit Award - $3000

Kaylee will attend Central Washington University studying Exercise Science, continuing on to Physical Therapy school, & hoping to become a licensed Physical Therapist. Her favorite thing to do outside of school is cheerleading, her interest of 12 years, and hopes to continue this sport at CWU.

Kendall McJunkins

Outstanding Student Merit Award - $3000

Kendall will attend Central Washington University to continue her education and major in Criminal Justice and minor in Sociology. Her future goal is to become a lawyer. Her hobbies outside of school include cheerleading and track.

Dylan Suina

Outstanding Student Merit Award - $2000

Dylan will attend Washing State University to study Engineering, participating in the ESTEEMED MIRA program to work in biomedical and Engineering research. He hopes to become a nuclear engineer. Outside of school, he enjoys reading literature and sci-fi books, puzzle-solving, and watching old movies.


Kaya Martin

Outstanding Student Merit Award - $2000

Kaya will attend Grand Canyon University to study forensic psychology in their honors college, and play lacrosse. She hopes to earn a doctorate in forensic psychology, and be an FBI forensics profiler. Beyond school, she enjoys thrifting, time with friends and family, & playing lacrosse and soccer.

Wilfredo Llorens Hernandez

Continuing Education Scholarship - $1000

Wilfredo attends Western Governor's University, working toward a degree in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance. He hopes to one day work in an Incident Response role, allowing him to help others and challenge his knowledge and skills. He enjoys the outdoors, time with his family, and learning more about his numerous other interests.

Jennifer Davids

Military Spouse Scholarship - $1000

Jennifer attends the University of South Florida working towards a Master of Public Health in Infection Control and Epidemiology. Her dream job is to run the Infection Control program at an inpatient cancer treatment facility. Her hobbies include hiking, reading, weight lifting, and traveling.
